This track was produced by Y2K and Judge, two engineers whose clients have included Migos, Mashmello and Young Thug – not the typical names you’d see associated with an instrumental rock/metal band. (You can read my breakdown of their song ‘Goose’ here) G.O.A.T is arguably a more refined version of this concept, where many claim the balance has been struck perfectly. ‘G.O.A.T’ is the band’s latest release following their 2017 EP ‘The Most Hated’, where they made the controversial move to infuse a trap-based sound in to their music in an attempt to appeal to a more mainstream audience. Although the band has been labelled as many things throughout their musical evolution, their ability to genre-bend is something that has remained consistent as one of their defining characteristics. Polyphia is a 4-piece progressive instrumental rock band consisting of Tim Henson (Lead Guitar), Scott LePage (Rhythm Guitar), Clay Gober (Bass), and Clay Aeschliman (Drums).
